The Covid-19 Lockdown is Working in NZ
"Stay home, save lives" is a phrase that has been repeated many times throughout this pandemic and is very appropriate. I strongly believe that our nation-wide lockdown has helped to reduce Covid-19 cases in New Zealand. NZ's daily case numbers are decreasing, whilst our testing capacity rises. Adding to this encouraging information, there have not been any unlinked cases. Although we are all safe at home with current technology many people can work remotely.
Firstly, New Zealand's daily case numbers have been decreasing, whilst our testing rate rises. Almost everyday since the 10th of April New Zealand's daily case numbers have decreased. Over the past eleven days, our daily cases have stayed at single digits. Furthermore, our testing capacity is rising - with more labs being approved by our government. This means we can test more people for Covid-19 and we can get better and more accurate data.
There are currently no unlinked cases in New Zealand. An unlinked case is where someone becomes infected, but no one can determine how they got the virus. Not knowing who someone came in contact with to get the virus implies that their are people out there that haven't been diagnosed and that are still going outside. New Zealand hasn't experienced this because with our Covid-19 lockdown in place, it has been much easier to track people's movements and determine who they came in close contact with.
With current technology, many people can safely work from home. Our Covid-19 lockdown has abruptly forced many shops and workplaces to close their doors. But, with more things moving online many people have been able to work from home and avoid redundancies. This helps to keep the economy flowing and helps people to pay for their basic needs.
I strongly believe that our nation-wide lockdown has helped to reduce Covid-19 cases in New Zealand. With the evidence provided it is obvious our lockdown has worked as intended. "Stay home, save lives" is so true and is something we all need to live by right now. We all need to follow the restrictions, as they are there to help us in the fight against Covid-19.

This week we were learning to write a persuasive essay on our opinion about the lockdown. I found it hard to write my conclusion but it was really easy to come up with ideas.
