Recoloured Taj Mahal

Today in Manaiakalani we used Google's Art Colouring Book to recolour famous paintings and photos. I chose the Taj Mahal and recoloured it orange and grey.

I'm in Sydney

This week in Manaiakalani we had to find a partner and ask where they would like to visit. Afterwards, we were told to create a fake postcard of us in that place using pixlr and remove bg.

It's Obviously Real

Earlier this week during Manaiakalani we had to make a fake media post. Using Google Drawings and Remove BG, Larz and I chose to put Donald Trump's face on Mike Wazowski's body. Remove BG is a free site that automatically removes the background from images. We used it to remove the backgrounds from both Trump and Wazowski, then we put them together on Google Drawings.

What Is Media?

This week we were learning about different types of media and how they can affect our lives. Going into this task, I had to make something that showed my learning using Postermywall. Postermywall is a free site that allows you to create posters easily and efficiently. Definitely the most enjoyable part of this task was getting to design the image below.

My Piskel

-----------------------------------------------------

Last week we were learning to make pixelated characters using Piskel. I found it easy to use the tool but hard to get the creeper to look similar to the minecraft ones. Next time I might make a body for the creeper.

Check Out My Tipu Game!

Using Piskels we made as characters, my classmates and I have been making games to teach Maori. We did this because we've recently been using a program called 'Tipu'. Tipu is an online tool that teaches basic Maori and is great for beginners. I enjoyed coding my character to explode, but quite difficult to programme the A + B buttons. I liked this task because I got to make a piskel and do a little bit of coding. Tomorrow I could add some more questions, as I only have a few at the moment. Did this game help you to learn more Maori?

My Persuasive Assesment

Today we were learning to use postermywall to make a poster, using the writing assement we did in Term 2. I found it really fun to play with the format/colours etc  - but I found it hard to find the right size for my text

Tuna Essay

We did research about Tuna eels and put the information into a informative writing piece. I found it easy to do the research but it was hard to get 6-8 sentences in each paragraph.

Covid-19 Persuasive Essay

The Covid-19 Lockdown is Working in NZ

"Stay home, save lives" is a phrase that has been repeated many times throughout this pandemic and is very appropriate. I strongly believe that our nation-wide lockdown has helped to reduce Covid-19 cases in New Zealand.  NZ's daily case numbers are decreasing, whilst our testing capacity rises. Adding to this encouraging information, there have not been any unlinked cases. Although we are all safe at home with current technology many people can work remotely.

Firstly, New Zealand's daily case numbers have been decreasing, whilst our testing rate rises. Almost everyday since the 10th of April New Zealand's daily case numbers have decreased. Over the past eleven days, our daily cases have stayed at single digits. Furthermore, our testing capacity is rising - with more labs being approved by our government. This means we can test more people for Covid-19 and we can get better and more accurate data.

There are currently no unlinked cases in New Zealand. An unlinked case is where someone becomes infected, but no one can determine how they got the virus. Not knowing who someone came in contact with to get the virus implies that their are people out there that haven't been diagnosed and that  are still going outside.  New Zealand hasn't experienced this because with our Covid-19 lockdown in place, it has been much easier to track people's movements and determine who they came in close contact with.

With current technology, many people can safely work from home. Our Covid-19 lockdown has abruptly forced many shops and workplaces to close their doors. But, with more things moving online many people have been able to work from home and avoid redundancies. This helps to keep the economy flowing and helps people to pay for their basic needs.

I strongly believe that our nation-wide lockdown has helped to reduce Covid-19 cases in New Zealand. With the evidence provided it is obvious our lockdown has worked as intended. "Stay home, save lives" is so true and is something we all need to live by right now. We all need to follow the restrictions, as they are there to help us in the fight against Covid-19.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week we were learning to write a persuasive essay on our opinion about the lockdown. I found it hard to write my conclusion but it was really easy to come up with ideas.

About Me

We were learning to use Google Drawings, Screencastify, and voice-typing. I found the Screencastify and voice-typing really easy - but the Google Drawings was a bit trickier. I really enjoyed being able to use google drawings in class. Next time I shouldn't take a photo with someone in the background :)
